OLG School Program Information

Excellence

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School opened its doors on September 5, 1962, with a commitment to providing quality Catholic education for the surrounding community. We are proud to carry this commitment into the 21st century. Our Lady of Guadalupe School works in partnership with each student's family to create a nurturing environment where children are challenged and supported to grow intellectually and spiritually, in service and in leadership.

Community

Our school is a ministry of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Our students belong to an extended community of parents, teachers, staff and parishioners who share Gospel values and support our students academic goals.

Affiliations

Our Lady of Guadalupe School is accredited by the National Association of Schools and Colleges, Western Association of Catholic Schools and approved by the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Member of the national Catholic Education Association.

Curriculum

Our Lady of Guadalupe School is guided by Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines and Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements (ELRs) for establishing curriculum goals school-side. The core curriculum includes religion, service outreach, math, social studies, science, language arts, music, physical education and art. In addition, we have a full-time counselor on staff.

Service Stewardship

Pre-Kindergarten: Children create arts and crafts, and provide books and program materials for the Childlife program at Children's Hospital.

Kindergarten: Children donate a new teddy bear to Children's Home Society, and maintain the grounds of the school.

Grade One: Children create cards for our neighbors at Mount St. Vincent.

Grade Two: Students give up afternoon recess to tidy up the church.

Grade Three: Children offer support services to Westside Baby.

Grade Four: Students support the work of Providence Hospitality House--a shelter for single mothers and their children.

Grade Five: Students assist with the "Over 65 Dinner".

Grade Six: Students help maintain the trail at Longfellow Creek.

Grade Seven: Students prepare 120 lunches a month for Angeline's Day Center for Homeless Women.

Grade Eight: Students visit with the elderly residents of Mount St. Vincent's on a regular basis.

Special Programs

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School also offers a variety of programs and activities to further develop student's interests and skills.
