Dear OLG Families,
Catholic Schools’ Week
Thanks to our amazing Parent Org for coordinating the hospitality during Open House, popping popcorn for our Student Appreciation Day movie, and for all of our Special Persons’ Day helpers! We couldn’t have done it without you. We’re excited about the changes we made this year; we welcome your feedback. A special shout-out to our incredible Parent Org Chair, Christa Callanan and Co-chair, Christi Meats, and to our Class Reps and generous volunteers, all of whom do so much to support our school.
Thank you, on behalf of the whole staff, for the kind notes and surprises for Staff Appreciation Day. You made our day!
Winter Concert
What a wonderful night it was! Ms. Sager’s “Sock Hop” theme was fun and spirited, and our students shone as they sang and played their instruments! We’re grateful to have such an awesome group of music instructors: Ms. Sager, Mrs. Milanese, and Miss McKamey – thank you!
Students Reflect on a Catholic Education
Last weekend, 8th graders Ethan L., Dominique M., and Emily A. spoke at Masses about how they have grown during their time at OLG. We were so proud of their insightfulness, poise, and evident leadership. We appreciate their willingness to represent the school in this way.
Please join us in welcoming our newest EDC staff person,
Lucy Fiallos! Lucy started this week, bringing experience in the extended day program at Westside School. After advertising and searching widely, we found our best applicant close to home; Lucy is also the sister of Mary Brodahl, OLG Spanish teacher.
Kentucky Derby Auction – Saturday, February 25th
As we wrap up Catholic Schools’ Week, our attention turns to this year’s Kentucky Derby Auction – don’t miss out; register now! Or sign up to volunteer. We look forward to seeing you there!
Student Council Launches “Jump Rope for Heart” Fundraiser
Student Council led an assembly this morning to kick off our February Heart Health Month “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser. Watch for information coming home with your child today. This program runs through Friday, February 24th.
Very Successful Book Drive
Thank you, OLG families! With your help, Clare D. collected 2279 books (1010 from OLG!). The 4th grade class won the treat party for most books collected (302!). Clare has already donated 500 board/preschool books to the preschool at Providence Mt. St. Vincent, and the rest will go to Roxhill families. Thanks again for your kindness!
Community Meal: Help Spread a Little Love this Month
Help us spread a little love in the community this month by putting on a fabulous Community Meal! The Community Meal is served at OLG
each month and offers a free meal for anyone in the area who wishes to attend. We are looking for people who can help on Sunday, February 26 in the Walmesley Center with set up (9:45 am), serving and visiting with guests (12:30 pm), and cleanup (1:30 pm). You don’t need to stay for the whole day, only for your shift. If you are not able to help that day, you can participate by dropping off a homemade or store-bought dessert for our guests (any time after 9:45 am). If you’re able to serve, please contact Colleen.

Lenten RSVP Series (Ritual, Sharing, Verse and Prayer)
Lent is less than a month away, and we are offering a six-week, parish-wide series based on the Washington State Bishops’ Pastoral Letter on poverty, “Who Is My Neighbor?” and the weekly Lenten Gospel. RSVP is designed to build closer relationships and foster a deeper spirituality in our parish community. It is a great way to get to know people and grow in your faith. Small groups gather in parishioners’ homes or at the parish to pray and reflect on the readings for the upcoming Sunday’s Mass. If you are new to the program, please fill out the form in the back of church or in this week’s bulletin. You can return it to the office or place it in the collection basket. You can also register online. There are a variety of options for meeting times to accommodate your schedule. For more information, please contact Helen Oesterle (206) 935-0358 ext. 108.
The OLG/CYO Golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 20th at 7:00 am at West Seattle Golf Course. Lunch, awards, and a prize raffle will immediately follow the golf. Further information, along with sign-up sheets and sponsorship forms, will be available soon. If you have any questions, please contact Tom Colberg at (206) 618-1361.
