Box Tops for Education

For many young adults and their parents, the words box tops evoke fond memories of cutting out cardboard rectangles and stuffing them into Ziploc bags to carry to school. The Box Tops for Education program, founded in 1996, is a General Mills initiative that allows families to redeem labels from eligible food and household products for 10-cent contributions to their schools. Over the past 25 years, the program has given nearly $1 billion to schools nationwide.

Collect Box Tops for Education and earn money for our school!

For over 25 years, Box Tops for Education has given families an easy way to earn cash for schools — with products they already buy! Today, you can find hundreds of participating products throughout the store. Scan your receipt with the Box Tops app and you’ll earn for your school with every Box Tops product you buy. All you need is your phone, and you can help support our school!!

Download the Box Tops app shop as you normally would, then use the app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app will identify Box Tops products on your receipt and automatically credit our school’s earnings online.

Has the Box Tops Program become fully digital?

Yes. In 2019 General Mills announced that it would be retiring physical Box Tops in favor of an app, changing the way we can earn cash for our school. Since then, participating brands began to change their packaging, from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.

Can we still use the traditional paper Box Tops Clips?

Traditional Box Tops clips have now fully phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products. We will continue to earn cash for OLG for all clipped Box Tops until the expiration date printed on the label.  Each valid, unexpired Box Top is worth $0.10. If you see a valid, unexpired old label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Do not clip and mail the new coupons. HOWEVER, you can STILL clip the coupon and bring it to the school! Clipped Box Tops bundles are still being accepted! Ideally, we can “double dip” during the still ongoing paper to digital transition by clipping traditional box tops AND scanning store receipts containing participating products.

What do you need to do?

You will need to scan your grocery or other store receipts within 14 days of the purchase, following the steps outlined below:

    1. On your smart phone, download the BoxTops4Education app
    2. Open the app and follow the instructions provided.
    3. The app will identify those products eligible for bonus coupons so you can be on the lookout for them when you shop. Check your app regularly because the list of eligible products changes from time to time.
    4. After shopping use your app to scan your receipts. The app will automatically record any box tops and credit them to OLG. Scanning may take a little practice, but it does work!

What are the new Box Top labels?

Most people don’t even know what they’re supposed to be “clipping” so they wind up throwing out FREE MONEY for the school. Box Tops appear on many of your everyday household items and they look like this. See below for a side by side of the old versus the new Box Tops labels.

What are eBox Tops?

Bonus Box Tops Offers aka eBox Tops can also be earned by you and awarded to OLG automatically through your participation in various promotional offers like an on-line sweepstakes, receipt scanning bonus offers in the Box Tops App, or making applicable purchases in participating retailer shopping card loyalty programs. Occasionally, a 14 digit printed code will be provided for your purchase or participation in promotional offers such as these. In such cases, the code should be redeemed online at btfe.com or in the Box Tops app to be credited to OLG.

Does this work if I make my purchases online?

Ordering groceries online? Get credit for those box tops, too! You can buy Box Tops products online at an eligible retailer like Costco, Walmart, Amazon, Safeway and many more. On the app, just select the “Scan Digital Receipt” option and done. If there were participating products on your receipt, our OLG Box Tops account will be credited within one business day.

Still unclear about how the process? Watch this video from Erin Pedras showing us how easy it is to SCAN AND EARN!!!

Tips on Clipping Labels:

  • The months of October and February are our submission deadlines for the year. Submit anytime, but clean out your stashes in those months.
  • Trim on the dotted line. A good way to keep the kids busy!
  • Submit labels in envelopes, or baggies, or rubber bands, whatever is handy.
  • Don’t forget to check office supplies, Ziploc, Hefty, and Kleenex boxes.
  • Ask your family and friends too!

Get everyone involved!
Your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, mail man, babysitter… you get the point! Even if they don’t have kids, we guarantee they purchase products with Box Tops on them or they shop online. It is SO EASY and costs them NOTHING! Tell them to go to www.boxtopsforeducation.com, sign up, select Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Seattle, WA, and THAT’S IT! They don’t even have to live in Washington!

Your past donations have purchased library books and recess equipment for our students.
We truly appreciate your time and participation!
