Loop The ‘Lupe! is Seattle’s leading 5K obstacle course fun run, organized by the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, whose social-service community work benefits from its proceeds.
The “Loop” is a 1K course looping Walt Hundley Playfield. On each lap (or “loop”), participatnts face 7 different obstacles (and 9 for the “Elite Wave”) including tires, walls, mud pits and more. All participants will complete the loop 5 times to complete their 5K race. There is also a 5K fun run without obstacles, a youth dash, and the popular Senior Saunter so the entire family can join in.
As a ministry of the Parish, participation of Our Lady of Guadalupe School’ students and school families is highly encouraged as it is an event that brings the West Seattle community (and beyond) together for a day of fun, laughter, camaraderie and unforgettable memories. And as if this was not enough, every year, the OLG class that achieves the highest level of participation in the run is awarded an End-of-School Ice Cream Party. And this year, the winner was our Second Grade Class, with a total of 10 students participating in the run! Way to go Second Grade!
This year’s Lupe was a huge success and became the biggest Loop the ‘Lupe ever, with 703 obstacle racers, runners, and walkers! Take a look at the video below showing the start of the largest of the five events comprising the Loop the ‘Lupe run: The Family Wave Obstacle Run!
In addition to the Family Wave, Loop the ‘Lupe events comprise an Elite Wave, a 5K Fun Run, a Youth Dash and -everyone’s favorite- the Senior Saunter. The event features also live music, a food and beer garden and a post-race relaxation station! Take a look at coverage by the West Seattle Blog HERE.
