VFW of Washington Youth Essay Contest

The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. Each year, OLG students in 3rd through 5th Grades can enter the VFW’s Youth Essay Contest, which encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 200-250 word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.

While this contest is completely voluntary for students across schools in the state of Washington, participation in the contest is part of the curriculum for our 4th Grade students as their class Service Stewardship Project,  involves working with the US Department of Veterans Affairs and various related groups to support our veterans and active servicemen.
