

Completion of the VIRTUS program is required by the Archdiocese of Seattle for all volunteers. You will have to complete:
- Background check completed every three years
- Abuse prevention training completed every three years
- Policies read and signed at the beginning of service

What is VIRTUS?
VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote “right doing” within organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with minors and vulnerable adults.
What does the program entail?
VIRTUS includes online training as well as tracking for Safe Environment compliance. It provides a convenient way for participants to register, read and sign Safe Environment policies online, fill out information for a criminal background check, and register for a Safe Environment class. Setting up a Virtus Profile
In your VIRTUS account, after reading the Personnel Policies and completing the Agreement form, you will be directed to sign up for Protecting God’s Children for Adults training.
You will be notified by VIRTUS when it is time to renew your background check and/or take an online refresher course, which is required every three years. You can also log in to VIRTUS to see if additional training is required.
