Catholic Schools Week Jan 26-31, 2025

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is the annual, national celebration of Catholic education. OLG observes CSW with Masses, Open House and other events designed to recognize the contributions of students, parents, faculty, parishioners and community members.  CSW is a a great opportunity that allows us to showcase your incredible school and community. Open House is an event open to the public and is an opportunity for families interested in OLG to learn more about us. This event highlights the strength of our academics as well as our students’ commitment to service.

Sunday, Jan 26 – Open House & All-School Mass

  • Open House: From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Join us! RSVP here!
    • Open House is a great time for new families to ask questions, meet teachers, and get to know our community!
    • The main entrance is on Myrtle Street, up the ramp.
    • Full uniform: check-in with your teacher today to wear free dress Jan 27th
  • All-School Mass: At 11:00 am

Monday, Jan 27 – Family Appreciation Day

An opportunity to say thank you to our OLG families and volunteers for all that you do to support OLG and Catholic Education!

  • Free Dress for anyone who came in full uniform on Sunday.
  • Parents, check your youngest child’s backpack today for a little gift.

Tuesday, Jan 28 – Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day

Thank you to all our teachers and staff for encouraging each student and making their OLG experience special!  The Parent Org and classes show their appreciation for our faculty.

Wednesday, Jan 29 – Alumni & Service Appreciation Day + Winter Concert

  • Regular uniform
  • Winter Concert at 5:30pm at the church! Join us!   Watch for teacher communications for the latest details,
    • All Preschool thru 5th Grade students + MS Choir & Band… enjoy this festive evening concert celebrating our school musical talents!
    • Doors open at 5pm… students PreSchool to 5th grade report to classrooms (will be seated by class). Band members report to the Gym foyer @5pm.  MS Choir meet at the church @5pm.
  • OLG Grads: CLICK HEREWe love to hear from our OLG Grads!
  • OLG’s Day of Service will take place on April 5, 2025.  Watch for sign ups in early March on the parish web site and school newsletter


Thursday, Jan 30 – Special Persons’ Day & All-School Mass

Special Persons’ Day is a great time for students to share OLG with a person who is important to them.  This person can be a grandparent, neighbor, extended family member or even parents and guardians.  More about Special Person’s Day 

  • Invitation to forward to your special person
  • **Parents and guardians: Please inform your homeroom teacher of your child’s Special Person by Jan 22nd, 2025**  Email homeroom teacher or use this form.
  • Students are responsible for bringing a lunch for their Special Person as well as for themselves (Order hot lunch or bring a sack lunch).
  • K-8 students in full uniform.
  • Some highlights for your Special Person:
    • Join us 9:30 am – Noon!  If you arrive early, coffee is available in the gym.
    • Park in the church lot, gym lot, or 34th/35th Ave SW. Details here
    • Doors open 9:30 am
      • Entry for Grades K-8 at main entry on Myrtle Street (Myrtle street is closed), up the ramp.
      • Entry for PS/PK on 34th Ave SW
  • All-School Mass at 10:00 am.  Bags, jackets can be left in the classroom (locked).  You will return to the classroom after Mass to learn more about your students day and share lunch provided by your student.

Friday, Jan 31 – Student Appreciation Day

Thank you students for your dedication and hard work. Thank you for putting your faith and trust in us to give you what you need to learn. Your curiosity, passion, wisdom and energy are passed on to us each day.  Thank you for for all your gifts and talents and challenging us to grow.  Let’s celebrate you!

  • Spread the Word! – CSW (Catholic Schools’ Week) is a great opportunity that allows us to showcase your incredible school and community. Let everyone know you support Catholic schools and OLG — Take pictures of your family and share on social media.
  • Encourage new families to attend Open House Sunday, Jan 26 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The Open House highlights the strength of our academics as well as our students’ commitment to service.  Remind families you refer to include your name on their OLG application and returning families may qualify for a tuition credit next year!  Find out more about our Referral Program.
  • Attend All-School Mass 11:00 am & Open House Sunday, Jan 26th. Connect with the classroom and the OLG community. Students in full uniform, report to your homeroom teacher to wear free dress Jan TBD
  • Our Winter Concert is Wednesday, Jan 29 5:30 pm at church. Details will be coming from Preschool to 5th grade classroom teachers.  MS Choir (students meet at church) and band (students meet at gym foyer) will also perform.
  • Assist your child in reaching out to a Special Person in their life (for Jan 30).  Plus pack a lunch (or order hot lunch) for your student and their Special Person Jan 30.  Thursday, Jan 30 is also a full “blues” uniform day —   All-School Mass at 10:00 am.
  • Friday is Pajama Day / OLG Spirit Wear!  We appreciate our students and celebrate their gifts!
  • And finally, CSW is a chance to take a moment to appreciate all the members of our community who enrich the lives of our students. Send a note, say a prayer, tell someone how much you appreciate them. Each day we honor the many people in our students’ lives.
